I have the honour to request that His
Excellency the Governor may be pleased to forward for the favour- able consideration of the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies this my application for the appointment of Harbour Master, &c., of this Colony about to become vacant
through the retirement of Captain Rumsey.

Further may I venture to hope that His
Excellency in so doing will see fit to grant me his valuable
support.

I was appointed Assistant Harbour Master on
and arrived in the Colony on the 22nd.
4.
During the absence on leave of the Harbour
Master, from the 9th. March, 1900, to 26th. June, 1901, I acted
in the several capacities connected with the post, and I trust
that during the whole time I have been in the service of the
Colony, I have performed my duties in a manner to merit approval
and to justify my present application for promotion.
